  3.               README.TXT: LETTERHEAD.PRO FOR AMI PRO FOR WINDOWS
  4.  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  6.  Thank for your interest in Letterhead Pro. This program will install 16 
  7.  graphic sample letterheads, 6 logos, and 1 watermark into Ami Pro for 
  8.  Windows. Each letterhead will also have a macro that installs the letterhead 
  9.  into any Ami Pro document. Of course, you must have Ami Pro for Windows 
  10.  installed prior to the installation of Letterhead Pro.
  11.  
  12.  The installation program is in two stages, DOS and Windows. The INSTALL 
  13.  program MUST be started from DOS by placing the diskette in a floppy drive and
  14.  typing INSTALL. Do NOT call up Windows and execute the RUN command. After 
  15.  completing the necessary DOS portion of the installation, Ami Pro for Windows
  16.  will be called up with the instruction document LETPRO.SAM on screen.   
  17.  
  18.  LETPRO.SAM contains instructions on how to use Letterhead Pro. You will be
  19.  shown how to order your own customized letterhead, logo, and watermark. It is
  20.  a Ami Pro document and must be viewed and printed from inside Ami Pro.
  21.  
  22.  You should print LETPRO.SAM so you may use it as a guide when displaying and
  23.  printing the Letterhead Pro letterhead examples. All instructions, worksheets,
  24.  and order forms are included. If you only want to copy your current letterhead
  25.  into a graphic image for Ami Pro, it is necessary to read and print LETPRO.SAM.
  26.  
  27.  You may design your own letterhead, convert your present printed letterhead,
  28.  or have CPI Software design a letterhead for you. CPI Software will place this
  29.  design into a graphic PCX format, add a macro, and return it to you. The price
  30.  for each letterhead, logo, or watermark is only $29.95 plus shipping.
  31.  
  32.  If the printer you are currently using will print Ami Pro graphics, it
  33.  will print graphical PCX letterheads. This includes laserjets, ink jets, and 
  34.  dot-matrix printers. You do NOT need special printer drivers or any add-ons to
  35.  place a customized professionally created letterhead on all your Ami Pro
  36.  documents. Ami Pro for Windows and Letterhead Pro are all you need.
  37.  
  38.  Before starting the installation, refresh yourself on whether you used the
  39.  Complete or Custom installation when installing Ami Pro for Windows. If
  40.  you do not remember, then locate the path to the macro files (files ending
  41.  with .SMM), graphic or drawing files (files ending with .SDW), and Ami Pro
  42.  document files (files ending with .SAM). Use the Custom installation for
  43.  Letterhead Pro and type in the path data when prompted.

  45.                                   INSTALLATION
  46.  
  47.  Letterhead Pro may be installed in one of three ways. It may also be removed
  48.  from your hard disk (uninstalled) using the CLEANUP command below.
  49.  
  50.  1. Standard Installation:
  51.  
  52.  The installation corresponds to the Ami Pro for Windows COMPLETE installation.
  53.  This installation program placed the macros into the \AMIPRO\MACROS directory,
  54.  and the graphics in the \AMIPRO\GRAPHICS directory. The document files are in
  55.  the \AMIPRO\DOCS directory. If you did not make any changes in the directory
  56.  locations since installing Ami Pro with the COMPLETE installation, then this
  57.  is the method of choice.

  59.  2. Custom Installation:
  60.  
  61.  This installation will let you place the document file, the macros, and the
  62.  graphics into any directory you wish. You must know the path to each of these
  63.  directories. For example, if you placed all documents into a directory named
  64.  "LETTERS" off the main "AMIPRO" directory on drive "C", then this would be the
  65.  full path:
  66.  
  67.                                C:\AMIPRO\LETTERS                           
  68.  
  69.  You will be asked: a. the drive letter, b. the path for document files (files
  70.  ending with .SAM), c. the path for macro files (files ending with .SMM), and 
  71.  d. the path for graphic files (files ending with .SDW). If you are not sure
  72.  how you had installed Ami Pro, then use this method. Locate these files before
  73.  the installation, and write down their proper path. Even if you used the 
  74.  COMPLETE Ami Pro installation, this method will work as long as you know where
  75.  the files are located.
  76.  
  77.  You must be very careful that you type in the path correctly. The CUSTOM
  78.  installation will take your absolute word for the locations of these files.
  79.  If you make an error, you may have to wait until Ami Pro comes up, EXIT from
  80.  Windows, and try again. If the files are deposited in the wrong directory,
  81.  simply run the CLEANUP.EXE utility to remove them.

  83.  3. Manual Installation:
  84.  
  85.  This method does not use the Letterhead Pro INSTALL program, but it must be
  86.  done exactly as follows: 
  87.  
  88.  a. Locate where the Ami Pro document files, macro files, and  graphic
  89.     files are on your hard disk. 
  90.     
  91.  b. From the INSTALL disk, copy these files into the proper directory:
  92.  
  93.            1. DOCS.EXE into the documents directory.
  94.            2. MACROS.EXE into the macros directory. 
  95.            3. GRAPHICS.EXE into the graphics directory.
  96.  
  97.  c. DOCS.EXE, MACROS.EXE, and GRAPHICS.EXE, are self-extracting files. You need
  98.     only to type their names and strike the ENTER key, and the Letterhead Pro
  99.     file(s) will be extracted from them.
  100.  
  101.  d. A utility by the name of CLEANUP.EXE will be placed into each directory
  102.     with the Letterhead Pro files. When you are through using Letterhead Pro,
  103.     run CLEANUP.EXE to seek out and remove every file that was installed.
  104.  
  105.  e. After extracting all files from the above files, call up Windows and click
  106.     on the Ami Pro icon. After Ami Pro comes up, open the LETPRO.SAM file. 
  107.     Read and print the LETPRO.SAM file as instructed.
  108.  
  109.                          UNINSTALLING LETTERHEAD PRO
  110.  
  111.  The installation places the file CLEANUP.EXE into every directory where 
  112.  Letterhead Pro files have been placed. When you wish to remove all installed
  113.  Letterhead Pro files, do the following:
  114.  
  115.  a. From Windows, go to the Program Manager and click on FILE. Then click on
  116.  the RUN command. On the RUN menu, click on BROWSE. Double click on the drive
  117.  letter (ie., C:\). Find the Ami Pro directory and double click the mouse.
  118.  Double click on each subdirectory. When you see the CLEANUP.EXE file, click
  119.  on it. Select OK to return to the RUN menu, and click on OK. Follow the 
  120.  instructions in CLEANUP. The CLEANUP utility will remove all files in that
  121.  directory, as well as itself. You may have files in up to 3 directories that
  122.  will have to be removed with CLEANUP.EXE.
  123.  
  124.  b. From DOS, go into the directories where you have installed files and find
  125.  the CLEANUP.EXE file. At the DOS prompt, type:
  126.  
  127.                        CLEANUP   and strike the ENTER key
  128.  
  129.  You will be asked if you want to uninstall all Letterhead Pro files in that
  130.  directory. Select 1. to remove all files. This will seek out every installed
  131.  file and remove it, including CLEANUP.EXE. You may find CLEANUP.EXE in up to
  132.  3 different directories. Wherever if is found, Letterhead Pro files are 
  133.  present and should be removed.

  137.  Letterhead Pro for WordStar for DOS, and Letterhead Pro for WordStar for
  138.  Windows. In addition, Laser Letterhead plus and The Laser Letterhead Kit are
  139.  available specifically for laser printers. We have been designing letterheads
